Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School (CCMMS) was founded in 2000. It is located on the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University, adjacent to the Friday Institute. The school is part of the Wake County Public School System. It has four sixth grade teams, two seventh grade teams, and two eighth grade teams. CCMMS has 609 students in attendance. As the Red Wolf serves as mascot for CCMMS, students all learn to know how to “H.O.W.L.”
H.O.W.L. is the acronym for what the students follow behaviorally at Centennial Middle. H.O.W.L. stands for Honor, Order, Wisdom, and Leadership. Honor at Centennial is being respectful and using manners. Order is for safety and movement around the school. Wisdom stands for learning, problem solving, and being prepared. Leadership is the most important behavioral skill at Centennial, and it stands for owning your behavior, being responsible for yourself, setting examples, and being accountable for your actions. Centennial has different H.O.W.L. procedures throughout the school. These skills students keep for the rest of their lives.
There are four houses in CCMMS: the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade houses as well as X-house. Each grade level house has two entrances that lead down two hallways. The hallways have classrooms on one side and on the other side there are lockers. In the middle of each grade level house there is a wide area call a den where all students meet in the morning. The grade level houses also have a science lab. The X-house is where all the electives are held. It has the same layout as the others without a den, lockers or science lab. The gym is across the hall from the X-house. The teachers and their electives in the X-house are:
